He has been researching the Saraswati system since 1965, has walked more than 1500 kms in the Rann of Katchh and the Thar desert of Rajasthan and also trekked up to the Yamadhar glacier at 14000 ft in the Himalayas where the Vedic Saraswati originates. He has researched the Saraswati through 3G (geography, geology, glaciology) parameters and also Archaelogy as an add- on.
In pursuit thereof, he has scientifically delineated 2800 kms of the abandoned course of the lost river Saraswati, through Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, into the Rann of Katchh in Gujarat, into Saurashtra and then the final discharge into the Gulf of Khambhat. The entire mapping has been done at BISAG ( Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Application and Geomatic, Gandhinagar) through Satellite Mapping, sponsored by the Water Resources Dept of Govt of Gujarat.
This narrative by Jagdish Gandhi describes the efforts undertaken to resurrect the lost Saraswati system as also the successful completion of some projects whereby the last part of the river has been successfully revived. The revival effort will be projected through slide illustrations. Mission Statement of Bharatiya Vichar Manch: To promote dialogue by which Dharmic philosophy, culture, and traditions can positively influence global thought and action.
