Subject:

Recently, the parliament of India passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill on December 11, 2019.  The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 amends the Citizenship Act of 1955 so that Indian citizenship can be conferred to the persecuted religious minorities such as Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian who sought refuge in India from the neighboring Islamic countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 2014. By the very intent of it, CAA excludes Muslims from these three neighboring Islamic countries since Muslims of these Islamic countries are not subject to religious persecution by their own Islamic States. There has been a wave of protests due to misunderstanding and false propaganda and counter protests all over India.

BV MANCH has invited Consul General of India in San Francisco and several community activists from Southern California in a town hall style discussion moderated by BV MANCH.
